Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that he will return to Liverpool on the final day of the Premier League season after being invited by his successor, Arne Slot. Klopp, who left the club at the end of last season, admitted that he had purposely avoided returning earlier to avoid “jinxing” Liverpool’s title push. With the Reds currently 13 points clear at the top of the Premier League, Klopp said he plans to be present at Anfield for the final game when the title is likely to be secured.
Speaking at a fundraiser in Cape Town, Klopp shared, “Yes, the plan is [to be in Liverpool] but not on the bus, I will be there with the people I saw on the bus.” He explained that he had been cautious about returning earlier because he didn’t want to inadvertently influence the outcome of their season, adding, “I didn’t want to go earlier to be honest because I didn’t want to jinx it all the time. If I’m in the stadium for the first time and they lose, ‘oh f*** sake’. So I go there when it’s decided.”
