Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, has urged party members to remain fearless and committed to the party’s cause. Speaking at the ongoing National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja, he emphasized that Nigeria is in a state of collapse and urgently needs rescue. He called on party members to speak out against the country’s worsening conditions, stating, “Do not fear anybody. Those who were afraid yesterday didn’t do any better.”
Obi stressed the importance of unity within the Labour Party, describing it as a family that excludes no one. He pointed out that the party aims to build a just and fair political structure, with a strong focus on preparing for future elections by fielding competent candidates across various levels, including for the House of Representatives, Senate, Governorship, and Presidency.
Additionally, he highlighted the need for loyalty and competence in those seeking to contest under the party’s banner, stating that only committed members, rather than temporary ones, should aspire to represent the party in the next elections.
