Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has raised strong concerns about the worsening state of insecurity in Nigeria. In his statement, he urged President Bola Tinubu to take urgent and decisive action, including the removal of inactive Service Chiefs, to address the crisis effectively.
He criticized the current efforts of security operatives, saying they have not done enough to protect citizens and have left Nigerians increasingly vulnerable. According to him, despite the global nature of insecurity, the situation in Nigeria has become especially dire and prolonged unnecessarily.
The prophet emphasized that:
- Security forces are underperforming and soldiers are dying due to poor support.
- Boko Haram and other terrorists are not invincible, and if the right equipment and support are given, Nigerian soldiers can defeat them.
- Change in military leadership and rotation of troops on the frontlines could help preserve their strength and morale.
- More financial investment is needed in the armed forces to ensure they are well-equipped.
He concluded by warning that if insecurity is not dealt with swiftly, it could spread further and worsen the overall national situation.
This is part of a broader call from civil and religious leaders across the country pushing the government to step up its response to the escalating security threats, including terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping.
