While he had recently made public statements regarding GTBank and alleged deductions from his mother’s account, the EFCC clarified that the arrest was not directly tied to that issue, but rather to the broader allegations made by various petitioners.
Notably, the EFCC stated they would release VDM once bail conditions are met and intend to charge him in court. There are also claims he may have been manhandled during his arrest, though that detail hasn’t been officially confirmed by the agency.
